People can avoid plastic straws, bags, and bottles by choosing reusable alternatives. Bringing reusable shopping bags, water bottles, and food containers lowers the amount of plastic waste generated. Producing less plastic waste reduces the risk of improper disposal.

Our Mission
What We Do
Beyond the Burn aims to educate and inform about the environmental and health risks associated with improper waste disposal in Uganda. We strive to empower communities through knowledge and advocate for policy reforms and improved practices that make a real difference in reducing plastic pollution.



Our GP group presented our issue to the class in a clear and engaging way. We began by introducing the problem and explaining why it is important in our community. Two memebers worked together to present to the
Each member had a specific role, which helped the presentation flow smoothly. One teammate made visual aids like slides and charts to make our points easier to understand. Another made this website to present to the class.We also included examples and brief explanations to support our ideas. At the end, a different teamate asked questions to our classmates thoughtfully. Overall, our teamwork and preparation helped us deliver an effective and well-organized presentation that captured everyone’s attention.
This post-class interview was one of many conducted to gather sufficient data. We interviewed individuals of different ages, genders, and diverse ethnic backgrounds to understand attitudes toward poor trash disposal. The variety of perspectives helped identify patterns and ensured our findings were more reliable, balanced, and representative of different communities’ views.
